Cardinal Engineering Celebrates Completion of Lake Arcadia Park
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday for the new Carl Reherman Park at Arcadia Lake. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include several Edmond mayors, business owners and representatives of Cardinal Engineering and Hornbeek Blatt Architects.
As a part of the 33rd Street and Lake Arcadia Master Plan, Cardinal Engineering worked with
Hornbeek Blatt Architects to develop a site and master plan for Carl Reherman Park for the City of Edmond. The park, which is on 33rd Street east of Air Depot Road, is named for longtime resident and former Edmond Mayor Carl Reherman. Reherman served five terms as mayor and was instrumental in the city's partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers to create Arcadia Lake during the 1980s.
The first phase of the Lake Arcadia Master Plan included picnic and restroom facilities, an extensive horse trail, boat launch areas and accessible fishing pier and courtesy dock. The second phase will add picnic sites, walking trails and sixty additional parking spaces.
With the development of the park, the city of Edmond now operates five parks at Arcadia Lake: Carl Reherman Park, Central State Park, Edmond Park, Scissortail Campground and Spring Creek Park.
